Firecracker Festival

Sanjiang in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is home to the Dong ethnic minority. The Firecrackers Festival is held on the 3rd March of the lunar calendar. The festival has been around for more than a hundred years and is absolutely spectacular. It is also a great way to experience the Dong ethnic minority culture.

Fireworks are divided into the following categories: the blessings of unity, victory, and happiness, historical meanings of good luck, wealth, longevity and happiness, career promotions and fortune making, a flourishing population, as well as a good harvest.
