Construction of Tibetan Opera Museum in Lhasa
Construction has begun on China's first Tibetan Opera Museum in Lhasa. The museum is expected to cost around 5.44 million RMB (around 800,000 USD). The construction work will end in the first half of 2019. The museum is estimated to cover an area of 1,080 square meters and will exhibit the different schools and the history of Tibetan opera. With the use of multimedia the museum will also serve as a platform for visitors to better understand Tibetan opera. In 2006 Tibetan opera was awarded as the national intangible cultural heritage status.
