Gulangyu Island Enlisted as UNESCO Heritage Site
Xiamen’s Gulyangyu Island was announced as a UNESCO World Hertiage Site at the 41st session of the World Heritage Committee. China currently has a total of 52 sites inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List. Gulangyu Island is only a six minute ferry ride from Xiamen and is famous as the cultural center of the city. There are over 2,000 historical buildings on the island and has some of the best preserved architectures in China.
