Shennongjia becomes World Heritage Natural Site
At the 40th session of the World Heritage Committee held in Istanbul on 13 July 2016, Shennongjia Forestry District was admitted to the World Heritage List as a natural site. Shennongjia is located in Hubei Province was officially established in 1970. With the addition of Shennongjia Forestry District this brings the number of World Heritage Natural Sites in China to 50. As one of the best preserved sub-tropical forest ecosystems, Shennongjia has over 5,000 species of animals and plants.
