Beijing Departure Tax Refund Policy
Beijing has announced that it will introduce a tax refund program this year to attract more overseas tourists to the city. The aim of the program is to allow foreign visitors to claim tax refunds at shopping malls in Beijing.
The duty-free shopping area will mainly serve foreign transit passengers, particularly those using the 72 Hour Visa Free Transit. The government has been introducing policies to make application for Visas more accessible for foreigners. The commission said it would also further improve its public facilities and services to boost inbound tourism.
According to the guidelines from the Ministry of Finance, foreign tourists who spend 500 Yuan or more at a designated shop on the same day, they can apply for a refund equivalent to 11 percent of the amount spent.
