Later Huai River renamed Qinhuai River and many people settled down along the river. It was not until 1985 that the local government restored the historical buildings and turned it into an attractive tourist resort. In China, many historical stories and well-known poems are written to honor this river.

Both of them start from Tongji Gate, and then the inner river flows into Nanjing city while the outer one covers the east, west and south side of the City Wall of Ming Dynasty.
