Introduction to Kun Ting Study Hall (觐廷书室)

Kun Ting Study Hall is located in Hang Mei Tsuen and was built in 1870 by Tang Heung Chuen of the 22nd generation of the Tang Clan. The hall was built to commemorate his father Tang Kun Ting and was the study hall that provided both ancestral worshipping and education. Under the British occupation in 1899, the hall was used as the police station and land office. In 1991 the Kun Ting Study Hall was renovated due to donations from the Hong Kong Jockey Club. The Kun Ting Study Hall is built using grey bricks and granite columns. The highlights of the building are the wall paintings, ancestral altar, screen panels and the craftsmanship of the entire design.
