Introduction to Hong Kong Ocean Park (香港海洋公园)

A trip to Hong Kong's Ocean Park will have you amazed. The park is a world class marine life theme park featuring animal exhibits, rides and shows that offer guests an experience that blends entertainment with education. Ocean Park is located on the southern side of Hong Kong Island and covers more than 870,000 square meters. Ocean Park was opened in 1977 and now covers a staggering 91.5 hectares. In 2006 the park underwent a redevelopment plan which cost 5.5 billlion HKD.

Ocean Park is divided into two sections known as The Summit and The Waterfront. There is then a further eight attractions: Amazing Asian Animals, Aqua City, Whiskers Harbour, Marine World, Polar Adventure, Adventure Land, Thrill Mountain and the Rainforest.

Amazing Asian Animals
Here you can see some of Asia’s rarest animals at the amazing Asian Animal Exhibit. Species include the Giant Panda, Red Pandas, Golden Monkeys and many more rare species.

Aqua City
Aqua City is an international class marine themed area that will redefine your underwater experience. Here you can watch Symbio, a multi-sensory show featuring the world’s first 360 degree water screen.

Whiskers Harbour
Whiskers Harbour is designed especially for younger children and families. The area was formerly known as Kids World and is filled with merry go rounds, play parks and play areas.

Marine World
Marine world is filled with endangered species from the Yangtze River, colorful jellyfish aquarium and also the Ocean Theatre where you can watch the seals and dolphins perform.

Polar Adventure
At Polar Adventure you can meet the Arctic Foxes, Penguins, Seals and Walruses. Learn more about their habitats and enjoy the Arctic Blast rollercoaster ride.

Thrill Mountain
Guest can dangle off a cliff on the floorless roller coaster, hair Raiser or hang upside sown while swinging on the Flash.

Adventure Land
Adventure Land is all about the adventurous rides, you most definitely don’t want to miss Mine Train and Raging River which will have you screaming!

Enter the home and environment of some of the rainforests rarest species and become immersed in the exotic sounds of a tropical rainforest. On this journey, you will learn about the flora and fauna of the rainforest.

Take subway Tsuen Wan Line (荃湾线) and take off at Admiralty Station (金钟站), exit B, then take Bus No.629 and get off at Ocean Park Station, which is about 25 minutes drive.

Travel Tips 

  • Better not visiting during Chinese holidays, for it will be extremely crowded then.
  • Children under 11 years old cannot enter alone unless accompanied by adults over 15 years old.
  • The day ticket is eligible only for day time. Tickets need to bought again if you want to experience the special performance at night.
