Cycling Around West Lake

Biking around Hangzhou West Lake is one of the great alternatives to walking as you can even fit in some active exercise. Cycling around the lake you will find that the environment and development of the scenic area has become very mature and developed. There are dedicated cycling tracks around the West Lake for cyclists but it’s worth mentioning that the cycling tracks are busy with other cyclists and pedestrians. There are several different routes to take whilst cycling around depending on what you want to see the particular cycling routes should be taken.

Starting Point: Hangzhou Youth Palace Bike Station (Huancheng West Road and Beishan Road).

Final Destination: Su Causeway South Entrance Bike Station (Nanshan Road)

The cycle route begins at the Su Causeway then across to Broken Bridge both of which are Top 10 Scenes of the West Lake. You will also make your way to Gushan Island where there famous museums and amazing nature routes.


Mysterious West Lake Route

Starting Point: Huagang West Gate Bike Station

Final Destination: Shuguang Road Bike Station (Huanglong Street)

The Mysterious Wrest Lake Route takes you into the wilderness of the forests where you will pass through the historical temples and sacred imperial tombs. Once you reach Shuguang Road you can take a rest at one of the many cafés that are lined across the road.

Final Destination: Lingyin Temple Bike Station

On this scenic route towards the Lingyin Temple (Temple of Soul’s Retreat) you will pass the dreamy Hangzhou Botanical Park. This route is slightly challenging with a uphill section cycling towards Lingyin Temple.


Six Harmonies Pagoda to Qianjiang City

Starting Point: Six Harmonies Pagoda Bike Station

Final Destination: Jiefang East Road Bike Station

This route begins at the historical Six Harmonies Pagoda, your route will take you along the Qiantang River where you can admire the scenery. Your final destination takes you to Qianjiang City where you will be greeted with towering skyscrapers and buildings.
